As a pet sitter, every booking is a unique experience, but my five weeks with Lilly & Lola have been truly special. From exploring different walking routes each day to cosy evening snuggles, these two have kept me on my toes in the best way possible!
Daily Adventures & New Walking Routes
One of my favourite things about pet sitting is getting to explore new areas, and with Lilly & Lola, we made sure no two days were the same! Each day, we set off on a fresh adventure, discovering scenic fields, woodland trails, and peaceful canal paths. Rain or shine (and we definitely had a mix of both!), these girls were always eager to get out and sniff every new scent along the way.
Exciting Trips to the Dog Park
A few times a week, we took our adventures a little further, heading to The Dog Paddock at Foston. Watching Lilly & Lola run freely and burn off energy was a joy. They had the time of their lives chasing each other, zooming around the open spaces, and engaging in some serious sniffing missions. Lilly was particularly adventurous, chasing after birds and leaping into the muddiest of puddles. Meanwhile, Lola had her own mission, digging away in the sand pit, getting wonderfully messy in the process!
They didn’t stop the whole time, racing over the ramps, weaving through tunnels, and only pausing for a quick drink before darting off again. We had the best time there. They absolutely loved it, and so did I! Plus, after all that excitement, they were super tired, ready for tea and bedtime after our afternoon dog park adventures! Haha, we all needed that rest!
Cosy Evenings & Snuggle Time
After a day of walking and playing, there was nothing better than winding down with some sofa snuggles. Both Lilly & Lola loved curling up in the evening, fully embracing the relaxed side of their personalities. Lilly would curl up next to me, while Lola would look slightly betrayed, as if wondering why she wasn’t getting all the attention. In the end, I had one on either side, with both of them either resting their head on me or placing a paw on me. It was just too cute! It was so lovely to see them so content, drifting off into little naps while I caught up on some TV.
Keeping Their Minds Busy with Enrichment Games
To keep things exciting indoors, I made sure to mix in plenty of enrichment activities. From treat puzzles to scent work, these two loved engaging their brains just as much as their bodies. It was so rewarding watching them figure out new challenges, wagging their tails in satisfaction when they cracked the puzzle.
They absolutely loved the snake toy. I put treats inside, and it took them a while to get them out. Once they finally did, of course, it became Lola’s new favourite toy, and she was carrying it around with her everywhere! Haha! If you're interested in getting one for your own pups, they’re available on Amazon here.
They adored all their toys, always greeting me with a different one each time. Lola did have a special favourite though, an old slipper! Haha, she’d always find it and proudly present it to me as if it was her prized possession.
A Fabulous Five Weeks
I can’t believe how quickly these five weeks have flown by! I’ve loved every moment of looking after Lilly & Lola, getting to know their unique personalities, and sharing so many fun experiences with them. Thank you, girls, for a truly fabulous February! I bet you’re going to be super excited to see your parents again, but I can’t help feeling so emotional saying goodbye. Five weeks of bonding with the girls has been incredible, and it was really sad to part ways. But the best news came - I’ll be seeing them again next year! I simply can’t wait!
Until next time, happy pet parenting.
Love, Holly x
